Violin by and labeled "Louis Noebe, Homburg 1883, # 317".

Louis Noebe, born in Schwerin-Mecklenberg in 1844, established a shop in Homburg which was in business from 1865 until 1922. He used Strativarian modeling and refined woodworking techniques. Noebe was an innovator in the trade: some experiments were more successful than others, but he invented the “induction bass bar” which is now common in fiddle construction.
